Paul Acree, 67, of Seymour, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. Paul was a member of the First Church of God and served his country proudly in the Army. He retired from CSX Railroad (formerly Baltimore & Ohio Railroad) after 38 years of dedicated service.
Paul was born in 1953 in Fry, Kentucky to the late Lucian Acree and Lula Mae (Richards) Acree.
Paul is survived by his sons, Josh (Leighann Mitchell), Jason (Destiny) Acree, Bradley (Molly) Acree, and Adam (Rachael) Acree; grandchildren Gavin Hurley, Noah Acree, and Shealynn Acree; step-grandchildren Kurt Austin and Jordan Cone; sisters Rose Mae Pruitt and Mary Lou Derrick.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, George Acree, Frank Acree and David Acree; sisters, Christine Pickett, Katherine Kemp and Noami Leavelle.
Paul was a wonderful father, dedicated grandfather, and was a classic car enthusiast. He was also an active member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way union for employees who build and maintain the tracks, bridges, buildings and other structures on the railroads of the United States and helped fight for better accommodations for his fellow workers while on the job site.
A walkthrough visitation will be held at Voss & Sons Funeral Service in Seymour on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 from 5-7 pm.
Funeral Services will be at Foster, Toler, Curry Funeral Home in Greensburg, Kentucky at 2 pm CST on Friday, February 19, 2021. Visitation will be from 12pm until time of service.
Burial will follow at Coffey Cemetery in Kentucky in care of Foster, Toler and Curry Funeral Home.
In accordance with CDC guidelines, masks are required as well as social distancing within the building. Cards and notes of condolence are most welcome.
