Robert Downing

Mr. Robert Winton Downing, 85, of Seymour, passed away on Feb. 25, 2017.
He was born in Montgomery, Indiana, on April 30, 1931. He was the son of Katherine Downing. On Sept. 2, 1961, he married Ruby Lucille Fields. She preceded him in death.
Mr. Downing retired from the Golden Foundry in Columbus in April 1996. He was a member of the American Legion Post and a lifetime member of the VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Donna (Wehmiller) Downing; Angie (Dennis) Russell, Vickie (Larry) Caudell; son, Robin Lynn(Tina) Downing; step-children, Mark (Judy) Tape and Brian (Amy) Tape; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Katherine Downing; his first wife, Ruby Downing; and son, Toby Downing.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Voss Chapel. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by the VFW Post #1925, American Legion Post #89, DAV #47, Korean Veterans and Vietnam Veterans #7, all of Seymour. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to service Friday.
