Mr. James R. (Jim) Johnson, 57 of Seymour, went to his Lord and Savior, with his family by his side, Tuesday, January 17, 2017.
He was the son of the late James (Earl) Johnson and Wilma (Neawedde) Johnson. Jim was born in Seymour, on October 12, 1959.
Jim graduated from Immanuel Lutheran School in 1974 and was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He then graduated from Seymour High School, Class of 1978 and was employed in industrial maintenance for 37 years with various companies, including Harley Bag, Union Camp, Kobelco, Uniplast, Home Products International, and Immanuel Lutheran School.
To many in the industry he was known as MacGyver as he could analyze the situation, fix and make any machine run.
Jim enjoyed the outdoors, from growing Christmas trees to working in the yard, fishing, cooking, and hosting his crab boils, and tenderloin cookouts for friends. He found a great interest in refurbishing and flipping houses and was a true jack of all trades. He enjoyed lending a helping hand to his neighbors and friends.
Jim’s greatest joy was being with his daughter and watching her mature to a beautiful young woman.
Jim was a loving and devoted son, husband, father and friend.
On October 9, 1982 he married his high school sweetheart, best friend and true love Carol Acton, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Waymansville.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, daughter, Sara E. Johnson, aunts, Ruth Holley, Bettie Wright, and Kathryn Robbins, brothers and sisters in laws, Allen (Bev) Acton, Bill (Debbie) Acton, Bea (Jack) Hercamp, and Brian (Fiance Shelly) Acton, and several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.
