Michael D. Schroer, 76, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, entered eternal rest Sunday, May 9, 2021 with his family by his side.
Born in 1945 in Seymour, Indiana, he was the son of the late Alvin John Schroer and Selma Ann Mellencamp Schroer.
He married Julia Moore on June 25, 1967, and she survives.
Additional survivors include his sons Andrew (Brandy) and Jonathan (Nell); grandsons Nicholas and William; one granddaughter Mary Scott; brothers Bernard (Kathleen) Schroer, Monte (Kris) Schroer, a sister, Candace (Tom) Isaacs, and multiple nieces and nephews. Michael was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church and maintained a strong belief in God.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Jennifer Schroer Holloway.
Michael enjoyed sports, especially his basketball playing days at Seymour High School, where he graduated in 1963. His love of sports continued in life as he enjoyed coaching his sons in soccer for 20 years. In 1967, he graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. He retired in 2006 from Kennametal in Augusta, Georgia, and later moved to Savannah, where he enjoyed traveling to various destinations.
Above all else, Michael cherished time spent with family, always taking the time to visit or call. He especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, who he adored.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Voss & Sons Funeral Home. Rev. Ralph Blomenberg will officiate the service.
Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
Masks are required as well as social distancing within the building. Cards and notes of condolence are most welcome.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be written to the American Cancer Society.
