Marion B Reinbold, 89, passed away on March 16, 2021, at IU Health Hospice House, Bloomington, Indiana. A lifelong resident of Seymour, Indiana, Marion was born at home on Pine Street in 1931 to Clifford and Mabel (Green) Reinbold. He graduated from Seymour’s Shields High School in 1949, then graduated from the Insurance Company of North America, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He held a variety of positions in Seymour area businesses, and ultimately, he worked more than 40 years as the Claims Manager for Beldon Insurance Agency.

Marion was proud of his 82-year membership at First Baptist Church of Seymour. He was the longest-serving member, participating in several choirs, on the Board of Deacons, with the Family Night Dinner Team, as Sunday School Superintendent, and as a bus driver to name a few of his many activities. He was a member of the Boys Scouts of America, the Masonic Order of DeMolay, and various philanthropic and service organizations throughout the community. He enjoyed his role as the Chairman of the Seymour Oktoberfest parade for many years in the early days of the festival. Marion joined the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge #462 in 1952 and remained a member throughout his life. With the Elks, he served as Exalted Ruler, District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler, and State Chairman of the Ritualistic Committee. Marion was also passionate about the Jackson County Fair and was a member of the Fair Board for more than 40 years. He served on various committees, including the Executive Committee, and he served as President for several terms. He will be remembered as Chief Corn Dog Sampler and Head Greeter aboard his trusty golf cart, welcoming all who came to enjoy the World’s Finest County Fair. Marion would frequently end conversations throughout the year, by saying, “See you at the Fair!”

Many in Seymour have fond memories of Marion serving as a local representative for the Jolly Old Elf from the North Pole for over 60 years, and gifting thousands of sour cream coffee cakes which he loved to bake. He was impassioned about his community, his friends, and his family, especially his two granddaughters. Anyone who knew Marion, or merely happened to cross his path during his typical rounds about town, would surely be treated to the most recent pictures of Maci and Lucy, which he was so proud to share.

In 1961, Marion married Sandra Jane Inman who preceded him in death in 2010. Marion is survived by his daughter, Betsy Jane Reinbold and dear family friend, Tana McElhinney; his son, Commander Douglas Marion Reinbold, USN (Ret.) and daughter-in-law, Jenny (Barajas) Reinbold. Granddaughters, Maci Reinbold and Lucy Reinbold. Brother, Dr. John C. Reinbold, Sr. of California; Sister-in-law, Karen (Inman) Cooper of Indiana; and Brother-in-law, Paul Inman of Southern Indiana. Nephews, John C. Reinbold Jr., Barry Cooper, and Bart Cooper. Nieces, Elizabeth (Reinbold) Hatch, and Leslie (Reinbold) Cervantes. Also several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Memorials may be written to the Jackson County Fair Association or Donor’s choice of charity.
