Loretta J. Barnes, 95, of Seymour, passed away peacefully at Covered Bridge Health Campus on Friday, June 11, 2021, with her loving family by her side.
She was born in 1926 to the late John L. Horsch and Elizabeth Catherine Kinzig Horsch in Chicago, Illinois.
On July 15, 1950, she married Edgar M. Barnes and he preceded her in death.
Loretta was a faithful member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and was highly active in her church and a member of the D of I, helping with church meals, member of the Legion of Mary, and Friday Magazine Club of Seymour. Loretta was always willing to lend a hand and make German Potato salad for the Seymour Oktoberfest.
She is survived by her daughter, Barb (Steve) Grant; grandchildren, Christina Smith, Tonja Grant (Andy) Couch; great-grandchildren, Grant and Evan Smith, Hope, Faith, Ryan, and Joy Couch.
Loretta was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, great grandchild, Charlie Smith, son, Robert R Barnes, daughter, Virginia Barnes, and brothers, John T. Horsch and Francis Horsch.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 15th, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Voss and Sons Funeral Service and on Wednesday after 9:00 a.m. until time of mass at St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
Rosary prayer service will be recited Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Voss Chapel.
Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, June 16th at 10:00 a.m., St. Ambrose Catholic Church with Fr. Dan Staublin officiating, assisted by Deacon Mike East.
(Masks are required on Wednesday before entering and while inside church during Mass.)
Burial will take place and will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
Memorials may be written to the St. Ambrose Catholic Church Youth Ministry or Jackson County Community Foundation for the Jackson County Animal Shelter .
