Mrs. Kathe Caplinger, 71, of Seymour, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2017, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. She was born on August 4, 1946, in Seymour, to the late Glenn and Lucile (Kessler) Keach. She was a member of First Baptist Church. On April 25, 1964, she married Larry Caplinger, Sr., he survives. She was a librarian at Seymour High School and Seymour Public Library. She later worked in Accounts Payable at Home Federal. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star. She was an avid bridge player, loved reading books and she loved trying any recipe she could find.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Larry Caplinger, Sr.; children, Laura (Eddie) Baker and Larry (Juanita) Caplinger, Jr.; grandchildren, Brady (Lacey) Spicer, Brandtley (Crystal) Spicer, Brennan Spicer, Christopher Caplinger and Joshua Caplinger; and great-grandchildren, Kieran Spicer, Ryleigh Spicer, Easton Spicer, Alexandra Spicer, Brianna Spicer and Alexandra Plaster.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John K. Keach, Sr. and Richard Keach; and sisters, Carolyn Zeller and Rosemary Hutchinson.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted by Voss & Sons Funeral Service at First Baptist Church on Thursday, December 28 at 1 pm with Rev. Mike Lyon officiating. A private graveside service will be conducted.
Family and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 11 am -1 pm.
Memorials may be written to Jackson County Humane Society or First Baptist Church, in care of Voss & Sons Funeral Service.

Larry and family - Kathe was such a great person and I agree with others about that smile of hers! In the past years we only saw each other at Wal-Mart or somewhere else but Kathe always gave me a hug and asked how we were doing. What I will remember the most about sweet Kathe - she basically showed me the ropes at the library but more importantly, her love of the Lord. Dear Larry, Laura and Larry Jr. I am so sad about Kathe passing away. She fought a hard hard battle for many years with her health, but always had a smile and a hug for you. I met Kathe when we moved to Seymour in 1952 and can remember going to her house and her Mom had a BEAUTIFUL organ that I wanted to play so bad, but was afraid to ask. I think everyone that knew Kathe loved her. Never heard her say a bad word about anyone and Larry, you and Kathe were the perfect pair. Kathe was a top notch lady. Very classy with a terrific sense of humor. I remember her fondly from my days at Home Federal. Very sorry for your loss.

I loved playing cards with Kathe and enjoyed her great snacks. I will always remember her kindness, sweet smile a such a woman of faith. May she rest in peace with her Lord and Savior. My sympathy and love to the family.
