Clyde H. Allman, 79, of Seymour, passed away peacefully, December 16, 2020, at St. Francis Hospital in Greenwood after a 2 year illness. Clyde was the youngest child born to Raymond V. and Maudie Ethel Allman in 1941, in Dudleytown, IN.
He graduated in 1959 from Crothersville High School as the valedictorian. On November 21, 1965 he married Elaine Blizard at Central Christian Church in Seymour. He was an industrial engineer at Cummins Engine Company and retired after 30 years of working both in Columbus and Seymour. Clyde was a mentor to many during his lifetime. He had the unique ability to teach and inspire young engineers, teenage baseball players, masonic members and friends. Before his illness he volunteered as a driver of the VA van taking veterans to Louisville for doctor appointments. He was a 50 plus year member of the Brownstown Masonic Lodge # 13 and also a plural member of the Medora Masonic Lodge #328. He had served at both as a Master multiple times. He was a member of several organizations including Commandery, American Legion, VFW, Moose Lodge, Mid-West Tool Association and others. During his lifetime he greatly enjoyed many outdoor sports, including fishing, hunting, golf, coaching little league baseball and shooting sporting clays. He was a proud Poppy who cherished time he spent with his three granddaughters.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine , of 55 years, son, Scott (Michelle) Allman, and grandchildren, Sydney, Kendall, Karsen and Griffin. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Wanda (John) Allman and Jill Cord, brother-in-law, Bill Cord, nephews Ron and Rob Allman, Adam Cord and nieces Janet Belding and Julia Allman.
He was proceeded in death by his father and mother, brothers, John and Raymond, and sister, Helen Hahn.
A walk-thru visitation will be held at Voss Chapel on Sunday, December 20, from 12 to 2 PM with a Masonic Service at 2 PM. A private family-only funeral service will be held with Rev. Brien Stout officiating. Burial will follow at Weddleville Cemetery, Medora. The funeral service will be live-streamed to our Facebook page.
The family appreciates all the prayers and concern for them in this time of loss. Clyde will be missed by many friends in the community, but all services are private for the safety of the family and friends. Cards and notes of condolence will be most welcome.
In accordance with CDC guidelines, masks are required before admittance to the funeral home as well as social distancing within the building. We kindly ask that there be no physical contact such as hugs or handshakes to protect staff and the family. Attendance is limited to 25 people at any given time.
Family asks that memorial checks be written to Old Carr Highschool Weddleville Cemetery or Brownstown Masonic Lodge, Medora Masonic Lodge, or charity of choice.
