Clifford Sierp, 101, of Seymour, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour. He was known to have the sweetest name in all of Jackson County.

Born April 23, 1920, in Jackson County, IN, he was the son of Martin Sierp and Katie (Christophel) Sierp Waldkoetter.

On July 3, 1948, he married Kathryn Terkhorn at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wegan.

Mr. Sierp enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II as a Gunner’s Mate 2nd Class. He also served in the Navy Armed Guard on duty in the Normandy Invasion and in both European and Pacific Theatres of War. He was a member of the VFW # 1925 and American Legion # 89. Mr. Sierp was employed as a petroleum serviceman with Standard Oil and Jackson County Co-op and retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1983. He was baptized and confirmed at Sauers, and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, belonging to the Lutheran Layman’s league, and holding different positions in the church. He loved fixing bicycles and talking to people at garage sales and auctions; but his greatest enjoyment was being with his grandchildren in Arizona.

Besides his beloved wife, he is survived by his children, Denise Sierp, Gregory Sierp, grandchildren, Alexandra Dastrup (Dustin), Tyler Sierp, daughter in law, Barbara Sierp and great-grandchild Ruby Dale.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Terry Sierp, brother, Herbert H. Sierp, and sisters, Esther Topie and Mildred Hall, Margaret Lambring.

Funeral services will be held Immanuel Lutheran Church on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at 1:00PM.

Burial will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.

Friends may call at Voss Funeral Service, 316 N. Chestnut St., on Monday, July 26 from 4:00-6:00PM and again at the church on Tuesday, July 27 from 12:00 noon until time of service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be written to the American Heart Association, Trinity Lutheran High School and Immanuel Lutheran Church Building Fund.
