Mr. Amon C. Hogue, 91, of Seymour, went to join his Lord and Savior in the comfort of his home on Sunday, September 6, 2020. Amon was the son of the late William Kelly and Ava (Willoughby) Hogue. On July 25, 1953 at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Indianapolis, he married the love of his life, Jimmie (Whitney) Hogue.
Amon was a member of Living Word Baptist Church. He was a faithful member, working in the church and serving as a Deacon until his health declined. He loved witnessing to people and calling them to Christ. His co-workers called him “Preacher”. His other great joy was spending time at home with his children and grandchildren; they were the light of his life.
Amon proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953 where he was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne. Upon his return he became a Brick Mason and was a member of the Brick Layers Union for 50 years.
Amon will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jimmie; his children, Jerry E. (Isabel) Hogue, Billy C. (Susan) Hogue and Melinda L. (Terry) Taskey; 7 grandchildren, Amon Hogue, Isaac Hogue, Rebekah Allen, John Hogue, James Hogue, Janice Streicher, and Mary Hogue; 21 great grand-children; and his sisters, Clara Clark and Mabel Britt.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, James Hogue, John Hogue, Carline Hogue, Louie Hogue, Eugene Hogue, David Hogue, Joseph Hogue, and Thurman Hogue; his sisters, Mary Hogue Harrison, Leatrice Hogue Royer, Gladys Hogue, and Darlene Hogue.
Funeral services will be at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 10:00 am with Pastor Robert Franklin officiating.
