Virginia Otto, 93, passed away Saturday, October 4th, 2008 at Schneck Medical Center. Virginia was born in Seymour on January 9, 1915, to David and Nell Humes Green. She was a lifelong resident of Seymour, graduating from Seymour High School and attending Franklin College. On May 2, 1936 Virginia married Donald Otto, also of Seymour. He preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 1981. She was secretary in the Seymour Public Schools and for many years worked in the office of Dr. Bud Graessle. Virginia was an active member of Central Christian Church. She was a volunteer with Friends of the Library, an avid bridge player and sports fan. In her younger days she enjoyed playing golf at the Seymour Country Club and tennis at the court at Freeman Field. She loved traveling with friends to Florida, as well as vacationing in New York, Washington, D.C., and Canada with her niece. She will be remembered for her Hoosier humor and sharp wit. Her survivors include a niece, Donna Patton and husband Dr. Ron Patton of Fairway, Kansas, nephews Dick Avery and his wife Robin of Houston, Texas, Steve Hyde and his wife Janet of Naperville, Illinois, and Dr. Richard Hyde of Angwin, California. She has six great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-niece. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Ruth Hyde and LaDonna Avery. Memorial services will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, October 11, at Central Christian Church, Seymour, with Rev. Jon Carlstrom officiating. Voss Funeral Service is handling the private burial.
