Max Pearcy, 74, of Seymour passed away on October 10, 2008, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour. He married Jeannette Bobbitt in 1959. She survives. He spent 3 years in the US Army as a Military Police. Max received an Associate degree in Criminal Justice. He was employed as Brownstown Town Marshal for 3 years and as a Seymour City Policeman for 22 years, the last 3 as Chief of Police. He was an active member of the local, state and national FOP, receiving the Chris Anton Commemorative Award for dedication to the FOP. He served as Jackson County Clerk for 8 years. He received the "Sagamore of the Wabash" award for his work for the Democratic Party in Jackson County. He was also a member of the Elks, Moose, Eagles and Central Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, son; Max Kevin Pearcy, grandsons; Christopher and Andrew, 1 granddaughter; Jennifer Pearcy. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, and 2 sisters. A memorial service will be held at Voss Chapel on Monday, October 13, at 6:00 PM with the Rev. Jon Carlstrom officiating. Friends may call from 5:00 PM until time of service.
