Mr. Robert E. "Gene"  McFarlin, 70, of Seymour, passed away at 7:03 PM, Wednesday, November 25th, 2009 at his residence in the care of his loving family.

Gene was born in Seymour, IN on August 11, 1939, the son of the late Kenneth and Mertie (Frost) McFarlin. He married Linda Lee (Gorski) McFarlin in Brownstown on  August 1, 1979. Gene had worked for Excello Shirt factory, Seymour, Levingston Steel Company in Pittsburg, PA and then drove a truck for Schneiders trucking.       

Gene was a gentleman who always smiled and treated people with honesty.  He loved to be with his family and will be greatly missed.  He enjoyed several things in life as he was a member of the Eagles #655, American Legion Post 89, but he truly was himself when he was at the Starlite Bowling Alley. Life member  of the Seymour Bowling Association Hall of Fame as a Bowler of Distinction, Past member of the Board of Directors and was the secretary for the commercial league for several years.

Gene is survived by his wife, three sons Curtis  Lee (Kellie) McFarlin, Timothy John (Melinda) McFarlin, Jerry Lynn McFarlin, five daughters, Tammy Jo (Chuck) Dixon, Mary Teresa McFarlin, Teresa Ann (David) Bennett, Kathy McFarlin and Sue Marie (Larry) Stephan,  19 grandchildren: Cody, Christen, Faith, Bobby, Dustin, Ashley, Benjamin, Bryson, Kourtney, T.J., Tony, David, Cheree, Ryan, Natasha, Jeffrey, Justin, Amanda and Arica,    2-brothers:  Curtis Lee and Billy Joe McFarlin,  4-great grand children
 
Gene  is preceded in death by his parents, 1-son  Shannon Lee McFarlin, 1 grand and 1 great grand 

Funeral Service at Voss Chapel, Seymour, IN, at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 28th,  with Rev. Aaron M. Rosenau officiating.

Friends may call at Voss Chapel on Friday 4 to 8 p.m.  and Saturday after 1:30 p.m. until time of service at Voss Chapel. .

Family request donations to the Seymour High School Football program.
Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery with a Voss Dove release.
Full Military graveside rite will be conducted by the VFW post 1925, American Legion Post 89, DAV, Vietnam and Korean Veterans all of Seymour.
