Mr. John D. Smith, 74, of Seymour, previously of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away at 11:03 AM, Thursday, December 17th, 2009 at his residence.
John was born in Apache, OK on April 6, 1935, the son of Dave Mart and Artie (Baucom) Smith.
On January 23, 1957 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oklahoma City, he married Pauline Kiespert, who preceded him in death July 15, 2004.
John was employed as a truck driver. He was an avid NASCAR fan and he enjoyed football. John loved to watch Oklahoma University play.
John is survived by his son, Kevin Steven (Lisa) Smith; daughter, Laura Anne Smith, grandchildren, Heather Michele (Jeremiah) Silence, J. Ashley Smith, Chelsea Elise Smith, Bryan J. Doss, Kayla A. Doss; great grandchildren, Andrew Tyler Hall, Jordyn Alexis Hall; sister, Bea Sam; and brother, Kermit Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Mark Anthony Smith; brothers, Lee, Jim and Toy Smith; sisters Mary, Ida Mae, Ardith, Irene and Esther.
Cremation rights have been accorded to Mr. Smith's request through the Voss & Sons Funeral Service and Tri-County Crematory.
There will be a Graveside Service at Spraytown Cemetery, Spraytown, IN at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 22nd, with Pastor Kent Mingus officiating.
Memorials may be written to the Hospice of Schneck Medical Center or "Shop With a Cop".
