Mrs. Edith  Knott,  94, of Seymour, IN, passed away at 10:10 AM Sunday, November 8, 2009 at Schneck Medical Center, following a brief illness. 

Edith was a resident of Jamestown, NY, until 1987 when she relocated to Seymour, IN.  Edith was born in Jamestown, NY on April 25, 1915, the daughter of  Edward C. and Esther Josephine (Johnson) Nelson.

Edith was a member of the First United Congregational Church of Christ in Jamestown until she moved to Seymour where she became a member of Peace Lutheran Church of Seymour.

On October 8, 1938 in Jamestown, NY she married Ray W. Knott who preceded her in death April 19, 1988.

Edith was active in the Church of Jamestown, where she was on the visiting committee, was a Sunday school teacher, and was active in Ladies Aid.  She was an honorary member of the KZC Sorority for over 70 years in Jamestown, NY.  She was a member of the Hammond Organ Club and the Eastern Star.  She was active in the Senior Citizen Center of Seymour playing in the Kitchen Band at nursing homes and was Get Well Chairman of the 107 Senior Club in Seymour.

Edith is survived by her two sons, James Edward (Laurie) Knott, William "Bill" Ray (Frances) Knott; grandchildren, Debbie, David, and Randy, Sheila Rae, Todd William; and great grandchildren; Kody Ray, Ciera Ann, Julianne Rose, Samuel James, Henry Jacob, Clara Elizabeth and Noah Edward.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Evelyn Eckberg; and great granddaughter, Olivia Shea.

Cremation rights have been accorded to Mrs. Edith Knott's request through the Voss & Sons Funeral Service and Tri-County Crematory, Seymour, IN.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Jamestown, NY.  Burial will take place in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Jamestown, NY.

Memorials may be written to Seymour Senior Citizen Center.
