Mr. David Manuel, 74 of Seymour, IN, passed away 7:05 am, Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at his residence with family by his side after a long and courageous battle of 17 years with diabetes and other medical struggles.
David was born in Seymour, IN on August 19, 1935, the son of the late Edward and Jessie (Jaynes) Manuel. On June 22, 1956, in Jeffersonville, IN he married Dorothy Engelau who preceded him in death. He retired after many years from Cummins Engine Company.
David was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Borchers and a 45 plus year member of the Eagles Club of Seymour. He was a big Green Bay Packers Fan and Indiana University Basketball Fan. He was gentle man who never complained or had a cross word for anyone.
David is survived by his children, David Lee Manuel, Vicki Lynn (Bradley) Lucas, Danny Allen Manuel; grandchildren, Kevin and Kolin Manuel, Christian Miller, Andy and Christopher Lucas; and sisters; Mary Rose Williams, Susan Ringer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers; Melvin and Virgil Dale "Bo" Manuel, and sisters; Kathleen Humphrey and Catherine Naylor
Friends may call at Voss Chapel on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.. and following the visitation on Friday per Mr. Manuel's wishes a brief Christian celebration of life will be conducted by Rev. Stephen Wood at 5:00 p.m. , Voss Chapel.
Family ask that memorials be made out to the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association or Donors Choice.
Mr. Manuel entrust his wishes to be carried through by Voss Funeral Service and Tri County Crematory. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
